Dare to ask

“A plasma what???”

How many times you have been asked this or similar questions when trying to explain your work in EuPRAXIA at a cocktail party?

Or perhaps you are wondering yourself what is a plasma accelerator and haven’t found any satisfactory explanation in the whole of the internet.

Either if you are searching for some easy-to-understand information about accelerators for a school assignment or find yourself short of words to explain your work in lay terms, don’t look any further.

The EuPRAXIA-PP project has put together a list of the most frequently asked questions about plasma-based particle accelerators, and we have endeavoured to provide an accessible answer to each of them.

Starting with “What is a particle accelerator?” this list of questions and answers is designed to assuage the appetite for knowledge of the most inquisitive of minds. Explaining each concept in simple terms, avoiding jargon, the reader can get a clear understanding of the fundamental ideas and motivations that drive the EuPRAXIA initiative. They also provide the necessary context to connect these ideas with everyday life.

They intend to expand the list of questions and answers, including cross references and links to other educational materials. The EuPRAXIA-PP communications team hopes you find this resource useful and is open to improvements, if you have any suggestion please send an email to ricardo.torres@cockcroft.ac.uk
